Question:

Mountain bike tires and seat help?

I have a mountain bike with knobby tires that I hadn't ridden in a long time before last week. I went biking on a paved bike path and noticed that not only was it a pretty tough ride, but my seat was quite uncomfortable. Two questions:1. Being a bigger guy at about 215 pounds, what are some good and relatively inexpensive tires to buy that I can put on my mountain bike to help ease the ride on pavement, and what psi should I look at?2. Even though I have a gel cover for the seat, are there any seats that are significantly more comfortable than most? I have the basic seat that came with my bike plus a gel cover. I don't know if I need a bigger seat or what but my butt hurt for a few days afterwards. Thanks in advance

Answer:

Lmao! Tempted to say texture, but i'll go with speed bumps and eww.
With boots you need to look for support and stability as well as cushion. With a helmet, you need to look for comfort as a must, look for vents, ear flaps, padding, and the safety foam which varies in how much protection it gives. The goggles need to fit right and keep the wind, sun, and fog out of you eyes. After all that you'll be set to conquer the mountain.
Buy nike zoom force one boots they are the best in snowboarding but also not cheap. Red helmets are pretty good but there expensive and helmets don't matter much because as you get better you wont wear it anymore so go with a Pro Tec. Goggles you shouldn't waste your money on for your first year so get a nice cheap pair of smith or bolle.
