My doctor said i am REALLY low in iron, i need to eat more stuff. What conatins alot of iron? What cereals are fortified?
Eat Nutragrain cereal (high on iron for a cereal) Meat and lentils orange juice take a vitamin c tablet daily
Instead of cereals because (i'm not sure of where you live so i don't know the ones available) i would say you should eat lentils if you don't like meat or you should take iron supplements. Eating meat is also important. Also when eating foods or having supplements containing iron you should consume vitamin c because vitamin c is what makes your body absorb iron. So drink some orange juice or eat something containing vitamin c when you consume iron.
To boost the amount of iron in your diet, try these foods: Red meat Egg yolks Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards) Dried fruit (prunes, raisins) Iron-enriched cereals and grains (check the labels) Mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops) Turkey or chicken giblets Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans Liver Artichokes Tip: If you eat iron-rich foods along with foods that provide plenty of vitamin C, your body can better absorb the iron. Also consider food-grade iron pills. The brand my sister uses is Mega Foods, Daily Foods Dietary Supplement Blood Builder 100% Whole Food
