IT IS SO ANNOYING.I‘m in my dorm room right now at college, trying to study, and this f****** fire alarm beeps once every 45 seconds. How do I make it shut up!!!!!???? I can‘t contact anyone from the resident hall because it‘s so late. There‘s one button that says Press To Test.but I don‘t want to press that.I tried removing it, but it‘s connected by a bunch of wires. WTF is going on??? I can‘t concentrate!!
Mine are electrical too so they don't have a place for batteries. I would guess it's one of two things. One there's a short in the wiring somewhere or two there's smoke somewhere. My MIL used to flash fry everything. Though it was safely away from the stove it was so sensitive it would do these occassional beeps the whole time she was cooking. Plus it did it in the summer when there was a fan on because of something coming in from the outside. Since hers was battery operated we'd always turn them off except when gone or sleeping. Try covering both with a plastic cap. If it continues to beep it's in the wiring. Not very likely both units would be faulty at the same time. If there's a mouse or other critter in the attic he could've chewed the cord the detectors are faintly picking up the smell. Most of the time you can call the administrative number for the fire dept. they'll come out check it for free or at minimum tell you what could be causing it what to do.
My alarm at my home is connected with wires too. But it does that same sound when it's battery is low. For some reason it has a 9V battery and it also is electrical. Do you see a battery when you remove the plastic cover? I hope I helped. Oh, with mine, I can't completely take the cover off because of the wires, but I can slip it to the side in order to get to the battery to replace it. Add: You were too nice. Call back. Tell her you cannot sleep and you must get some sleep. Threaten to rip it out of the ceiling or smash it. You are a paying customer.and there are people available at night to help with maintenance problems. You could call her every 45 seconds and see how she likes it? .can you take a blanket and pillow down to a common area and just sleep there?
This probably means the backup battery is low. Get maintenance up there. Even if you have to make an emergency call--do it! They're responsible for maintaining the alarm system, not you. They should regularly change the batteries to prevent things like this from happening.
