I have an HP laptop and I can charge it to 100% battery and within 15 minutes the battery is dead. Do you think it's something I'm doing or is it the laptop?
it is your laptop battery. its life cycle is finished. u must get it changed.
You can get the battery checked but it is most likely a dud - Replace it - But see if it can be checked first -
laptop batteries only last about a year or so. Go to an off brand site to buy a replacement. They are much cheaper and work just as well. I have bought batteries from the link below for Compaq and Dell laptops and they work just fine.
How long have you had the laptop for? If it's more than a year it's likely that the battery life is at it's end. Has the decrease in battery life been gradual or did it just suddenly stop holding its charge? If it's new, it very well could be a defective battery. HP did just have a voluntary recall on certain batteries. Check their website for information on it.
its the laptop, more so the battery, which is dead :-( the battery might be dead! Over time the battery pack does not hold a charge anymore. This usually happens after a few years, but it can happen sooner if its not properly maintained. Some of the reasons for this. 1. You got a deffective item 2. You used it too much (recharge cycles) 3. You left it charging constantly, even after the battery was completely charged. You will need to get a new battery for it. It should run from $50-100. In the future be more cautions about how you use your battery. Charge it only when its needed and do not keep it plugged for longer than it needs to. If you are gonna use the computer for long periods of time in the same place, take off the battery pack and run it on the cord.
