Question:

My passenger windshield wiper stopped working how do I fix it?

Recently my passenger windshield wiper stopped working. When it was snowy/icey I didn‘t let my windows fully defrost and tried using the wiper blades being in a rush to get going to work and I think something broke. The drive side works fine but the passenger won‘t go up or move at all. It went for a bit of kind‘ve half moving but not it doesn‘t move at all.Yesterday I tried to see if a bolt was loose or something and noticed when my car is turned off if I try to move the drive windshield wiper up it‘s pretty locked in place but the passenger one was loose and I could move it freely up and down which told me something is broke. My question is how do I fix this? Do I need to buy a whole need wiper or what can I do. Any help would be appreciated and links to how to fix it if I can or links to where I can buy a new one and how easy is it to install.

Answer:

the control arm that attatches from your wiper motor to the wiper arm likely came off under the pressure. You are going to have to take off the wiper arms and the cowling that is under the wiper arms to get a better look and reatatch it.
It sounds like the wiper arm itself has stripped out. what you can do is remove the cap on the wiper arm at the base of your windshield and get a wrench/socket and try to tighten the bolt down. sometimes that works, other wise you will need a new wiper arm. I doubt highly that the wiper pivot is bad. If you need a new wiper arm, you can try a parts store or the dealer of your car. (i.e. ford, chevy ect. ) Hope this helps.
sounds like you have damaged your wiper transmission. these are reasonable price from a wrecking yard and take approx one hour to replace on most cars
