First of all, I can tell by the way you worded this question, that you were afraid you'd get attacked for admitting you have your baby sleep with you in bed. Please don't worry about that. You raise your baby how you see fit, within safety and reason of course. Don't worry about what others say, k? :-) That being said, I'd say your 5-month old is strong enough to move her head on her own, etc, so unless you have a trillion layers on your bed and they're heavy, I wouldn't worry about smothering the baby too much that way. Also, if you put a pillow barrier between you and the baby, and the edge of the bed, that'll help aleviate some of the stress about squishing her in the middle of your sleep too.
