Question:

my smoke detectors keep beeping,,..?

the smoke detectors in the hall way [right next 2 my room prob 3 ft away ] and my room keep beeping . (first the hall then my room) we figured it was the batteries an the only tall person waited two hours 2 change them any way we changed them even though no electric or batteries were in they continued to beepwe live in a townhouse.the date on the back of both said nov. 2001 so they like 8 yrs,.. i'm assuming there dead time 4 new ones , am i right????

Answer:

They all go off at the same time if they have been interconnected properly. The bedroom one apparently is the culprit. Some combination of events or conditions causes it to false alarm. If this is something that started recently, I suggest trying to clean it. Blow it clean, take the vacuum cleaner to it, or follow the manufacturer's recommendation for cleaning. If this doesn't do the trick I would replace the detector with a photoelectric type, compatible with the existing detectors.
