Question:

My tv keeps making a static noise when the cables on but not a movie, how do i fix it?

I have a sixty inch RCA home theatre television and when i want to watch cable the tv makes a static noise. When i go to play my xbox the sound is fine and it is the same way when i play a movie. So the speakers can't be going bad. I just need to figure out what is wrong.

Answer:

You might have a noisy tuner if you use channel 3 on your TV to recieve the cable box's signalif you use it WITHOUT a cable box, then that is the problem You may have a bad cable box. You may be using HDMI output for a cable box and that is very problematic on a cable boxuse the component cables and the problem should disappear. IF NOT then you KNOW you have a cable box problem. OOPs! I almost forgot.IF you have a VOLUME CONTROL on your cable box, then the volume control on your Box is turned way down, and your TV volume is turned way up. That creates hiss, due to the low volume coming out of the cable box. So press the cable button at the top of your cable remote, press the volume button, and you should see a different volume bar pop up.max it out, then press the TV button on the remote and adjust it to comfortable.
