Question:

My windshield wipers wont work.?

1999 Ford Taurus. My windshield wipers work on high only.not on low or any intermittent level. If I turn them down from high, they stop right where they are. Any ideas??? Thanks

Answer:

By disconnect power they mean interrupt the power supply to the waterheater which you can do simply by turning off the breaker to the water heater. Why? Safety.you don't want to take the chance of getting a serious shock do you? Especially, in any environment that contains both water and electricity.
I have never seen a gas water heater (tank style) that needed electricity. The pilot light is always lit. There may be some newer tanks that use electronic ignition, but I doubt it. One of the selling points of natural gas is that when power goes out, you can still cook and bathe.
Fords and electrical problems go hand in hand.I know I dis Ford quite a bit,but they did have electrical problems in those years.I would say to set it on fire, but there is a poor soul on here who is Ford trained.Fordman.He likely knows the best answer.
Cuz you bought a ford !!!!! That is why , They are nothing but trouble and money pits . At one time that is all i would buy , but i grew up and got real with my next car . Never again will i buy a Ford . Oh i had a Taurus as well , Then trade it in for a Windstar !!!!! That was a money pit and all were bought new .
although you would think it's the switch, and it is possible that it is, it is more likely to be the motor assy. or a wiper control module. there is a park mechanism that fails in the motor and will cause the problem that you described. if it is the switch, you should be able to get the wipers to flinch if you set it to low, and wiggle and manipulate the switch. in my experience, 9 out of 10 times the motor or module was the fix. the recall described by someone here is in reference to the wipers staying on with the switch off. this is due to a bad connection at the wiring connector.
