A CO2 extinguisher with cone shaped nozzle has CO2 under great pressure, so that when the pin is pulled the CO2 comes out and smothers the fire, cutting off the O2 needed to burn. In the old type soda acid extinguishers, an acid caused the release of CO2 from a solution of baking soda shooting out water and CO2. The water acts to cool where the CO2 acts to stop Oxygen from getting to the fuel. There is a diagram called a fire triangle which has fuel at one corner, oxygen at one corer and heat at the third. If any of these are removed the fire will be stopped.

you should get a connector [[ just a straight pipe that is about three inches long ]] and follow through with the correct size to fit for your extension the use of the white teflon tape will help you seal those joints so you do have any leaks .
