If you're a mature young man and have been properly trained in Safety, then I'd say sure. I would opt for someone responsible and knowledgeable to be with you whenever you use the saw. I can only assume that you are aware of the proper way to De-limb a tree and bucking of same; When you said you declined tree work, were you referring to the above ? or actually Felling Trees ? that is one Hairy task and should be taught by someone who is proficient in all the facets involved, You have run saws, so your no stranger to them, that is good, but I cannot stress enough, ( SAFETY ) I just would not go it alone in the beginning.
