When judging the quality of carpet, the first thing to look for is the type of fiber it is made fromNylon is the best(there are better nylons, the newest simply feels softer.) Insist on Continuous filament nylon, not staple nylon, as staple yarns shed(If the label doesn't say filament, or BCF, assume it is a staple) Once you have found the nylons, there are 3 things to look forHow long is each fiber? How dense (close together) is each fiber, and most importantly look at 1 strand of yarn and see how tight it is twisted, the tighter the better.
