I have a RT-U64CP-1.17 synergy V remote from time warner cable. I tried and failed at programming it to my insignia tv/dvd combo. so now I want to reprogram it to change the volume on the scientific atlanta 8300hd hvr box. but every time I try to change the volume it doesn't let me because it tries to change the volume on the tv. How must I go about fixing this.

Ok here we go. Grab your remote control power on the tv and the cable box on the remote i want you to hit the settings button TWICE until it pulls up a full screen menu called general settings I want you to use the surrounding arrow keys around the select button and scroll down to where it says AUDIO VOLUME CONTROL to the right it should say fixed we need to change that to variable so to do this press the right arrow key then highlight variable then press select. Next step. I want you to hold down both the cbl on the top of the remote and the blue select button hold them down together until the cbl button stays lit. Now I want you to point to the cable box (while the cbl button is still lit) and press the volume + button just once! now I want you to press the cbl button just once. The cable button should now blink 3 times. Now go up to your television and turn it up as high as you like then take your twcable remote and adjust the volume you should see a little bar that says volume show up on the television and you should be all set! You are now controlling the cable box volume. Hope that works for you :)
