Question:

Need plumbing help! How to figure pipe size, size of fitting needed?

We are using a quick disconnect (?) to connect our 3/4 inch copper pipe (from the house) to a compression fitting that attaches to the water heater. We have purchased 2 compression fittings now, and both leaked, even though we shoved the pipe in as far as it would go. And, even when it is on there all the way, the fitting still spins around. We even used a little bit of plumbing teflon tape, wrapped it around before putting on the fitting, and it still leaks/spins.We are buying fittings for a 3/4 inch pipe is it possible our copper pipe is a different size? How can you tell? We don't see any numbers on it. It just looks like 3/4 inch pipe. Any other ideas or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.

Why don't you ask the Principal where you would purchase that particular lock? Be prepared for a sarcastic answer, but it's worth a try. Obviously (?) your parents know about the incident, so do they have any suggestions? Try a Home Depot, Lowes, or local hardware store. Or, attempt to google it depending on how quickly it needs to be repaired. Lastly, what about asking the school janitor (for lack of a better term)? He probably repairs things or has resources Maybe there's something that you could come up with to improvise - not the original lock, but a good alternative. Good luck
