An old furnace (20+ years) can have a cracked heat exchanger. You can have it checked for less than $100 anywhere in the country. That will pump Carbon Monoxide into the whole house. A chimney at the furnace can also be blocked or loose or rusted or pushed to the side which will put it into the heating room area. A sign of a leak is headaches. If in doubt have someone check it out that knows more than you do. You only have to have it looked at once to feel safe.
If you have an alarm that is already installed, it may just need re-setting. Cost at BMW should be about $100. The tech will re-program on a special diagnostics machine. If this is not the case it will be cheaper to go to an independant car alarm specialist.
