hi, okorder
Probably because you haven't change your PC sound output device to the headphones. Try right-clicking on your computer tray (The icon on the bottom right of the screen) and then on Playback Devices - it should open up a window. From there just disable everything else except your headphones (Also enable it if it isn't). If it doesn't work or you can't see it, try plugging it into your PC and try it again.
DVD players, or Bluray players that connect via HDMI cables have their sound components connected through the HDMI port. HDMI cables have the capability to send sound as well and companies have incorporated the sound through the HDMI cable as a convenience for the consumer. However unlike DVD players and Bluray players that have that option most laptop computers and computers in general DO NOT have this feature because they use a separate audio out. (a sound card for example) What you will have to do really depends on your audio out source from your laptop. Most laptops have a simple 3.5mm jack for audio out. (where you plug headphones in) for this you will need an auxiliary cable, you can buy them at any Radio Shack or Best Buy or any computer/electronic store.
