Question:

Noble gas abbreviation of an Aluminum ION?

I'm not sure how the Noble gas abbreviation, orbital notation, electron dot structure, and number of protons and neutrons would differ in a aluminum ion in comparison to an Aluminum atom.Appreciate some help here.

Answer:

The ONLY charge between the Al atom and an Al ion is the loss of three electrons Al - 3e- - Al3+ [2.8.3] - 3 - [ 2.8] This is the electron structure of the nearest rare gas But protons and neutrons don't change.
