I usually paint with the cheaper stuff, but I came across some real nice Grumbacher Pre-tested oil paint and bought it. It was the first time I bought paint with health labels. Most contain lead, and the ones that don't still say that California thinks it may cause cancer / do not spray apply. My question is, how safe do I need to be? Should I wear gloves and avoid all contact? Does my area need to be ventilated? Or should I just refrain from using the paint as a condiment?
Smoke detectors are required by law in any rental situation, in most states. They aren't required in private homes. Whether a home's guest could hold the owner liable would depend on a number of factors, such as a whether this is actually the cause of their deaths.

You might still see it on some houses. People would put one or more lightning rods up on the roof of their houses so as to prevent lightning damage. A lightning rod is this metal rod that sits up on the roof with a wire running from the roof down to the ground. Thusly rather than strike the Roof the lightning would strike the lightning rod and then run down to the ground. You're going back to the mid to late 1700s for that particular invention.
