Have you tried a model T ford. They have been around a long time and there 4 banger gets pretty good gas mileage.
Most Toyota's go well over 200,000 miles and as long as you keep up your basic oil and fluids, or ya don't ride your break pads- they require very little maint. Great gas miles..38-50 av, miles to the gallon.

The importance to remedy this problem was that auto makers began to make car and trucks that were fuel efficient. That's when the Pacer hit America roads, the Nova, the Renault, The Honda Accord, The Opelect The greatest boom was the Japanese coming out with Toyota and Mazda. To this day Toyota and Mazda has an engine that gets performance, less break downs and with porper maintenance you can get over 300,000 miles on it and that is no joke. Ford just Bangs their head realizing that we are beat by Foriegn autos. When the Mazda first come out during the gas depression they kept talking about the Rotary Engine that sounds to smooth rather than noise. The commercials racked up the $$$$$ for the Mazda. So in my opinion if you want a power house 4x4 or a good running lasting vehicle. Mazda and Totyota is where you want to look into. I make this decsion based on past experience and the explosion of sales with these car and trucks in the U.S. by the Japanese that win American's over and over again. You will hear about GM layoffs, Ford layoffs and shut downs, but with the Japanese beating America in fuel efficient cars and trucks, let's face itthat's the way to go. Those sewing machine engines are built to run forever just about and that's why all my vehicles except for my Harley Davidison are Japanese.
