If anyone recalls my 2000 Ford Focus dying, here‘s an update. After changing the MAF sensor, fuel filter, and fuel pump, my dang Focus still had the lack of power uphill, and ocassional stall while coming to a stop (with no CEL). I‘ve used a fuel additive to clean the fuel system, and it seemed to improve greatly, only stalling once during a 2hr test drive. Now, I‘m wondering if something may be clogged of some sort. Really debating on using the SeaFoam thru‘ brake booster approach and some in the fuel tank. Any input or previous experiences???
problematic factor. look into on to search engines like google. just that might help!
Discovered seafoam a couple of years ago when another mechanic mentioned it. I use it both in the fuel and oil of the tow truck and a while back when I had to change out an injector, I was amazed how clean things were. I highly recommend it.
I had a '65 Rambler American ( Remember those ? ) over the summer, bought it just for somthing to drive unmolested, unrestored but decent enough to drive and didn't need much work to go on the road. ended up with a valve that got burnt, but it still ran smooth if I kept the addatives in it. marvle mystery oil and Seafoam it would start to hesitate and stall due to low vac ( burnt valve ) clean it out with seafoam and then dump marvle mystery oil down the carb till it poured white smoke out the tailpipe let the smoke clear and it was all good and ran like a clock again 2 pumps on the gas pedal to set the choke and give it a little gas, and hit the key and it would fire off got rid of it due to a worn out suspension and winter was coming.
I have used the Fuel additive Sea Foam and have very good luck with it. I do not think I would put it in your brake boost line, not sure how things in there would react to it, and that would be a bad place to find it ate your seals I have used it on combines which sit all year and the swather. I have not had to pull a carb since I started using the stuff. I also use it on my ATV, Lawn mower and chainsaw. I think the stuff is great.
