Question:

Our 2002 Nissan Maxima has its airbag light flashing. Can you diagnose the problem using a wiring schematic?

Just recently our airbag light started flashing. There has not been any damage to the vehicle. Is there a way to diagnose where the problem originates if you have a wiring diagram? The dealer wants $130 just to find where the problem is and then repair is extra on top of that.

Answer:

Check the warranty limits on the SRS system, it may be 10 years. Warranties on SRS systems are much longer than the rest of the vehicle. Nissan announced a recall this week on some of thier vehicles regarding faulty sensors, call Nissan to clear up the warranty on your vehicle and to ask if this recent recall applies to your vehicle.
Having worked with car electronics I'll recommend you to take it to the dealer because it's EXTREMELY complicated to look for a solution with the wiring diagram. Don't even try to fix it because you don't even know what the problem is. One thing you can do is to take it to autozone or any other car parts store. Tell them about your problem and they might be able to help you out for cheaper or free by scanning your car with and OBD (on board diagnostics) tool. This will tell them exactly what the error code is.
look at your diet, what kind of food are you eating? Junk food, highly processed foods and sugar will make you tired. Are you getting any exercise? Are you getting enough water daily? Try taking a daily vitamin, improve your diet, eat fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, and lean meats.
I doubt that the OBD II scanners at Auto Zone are capable of reading codes for the SRS AirBag system. You need a Nissan dealers Consult II scanner to diagnose that system. Wiring diagrams are no help, SRS problems are usually air bags with intermittent open circuits or the steering wheel clock spring. Don't use a VOM on the SRS system or you will set off the air bags and end up with $2,000 or more in replacement costs.
