Question:

Our fire detector went off for no reason, what could be the problem?

It beeped a couple of times, stopping once in a while. It's battery operated, so could the battery just be going?I tapped it and it stopped. It wasn't connected to our ceiling either, it was on a small table and it's on the second floor of our home, the one down stairs wasn't going off. It's a very hot day today, could it be from the heat? It's just a fire detector, not carbon dioxide. And no, our house isn't on fire. Thanks in advance.

Answer:

Well, I dont know about other models but now I have a First Alert Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm Model SC01N in my hallway. It has a test/silence button. If you press it while its ringing, the sound goes off and the light continues to blink. If you don't fix your smoke problem in a certain amount of minutes it starts to ring again, so you have to reach up and press it again. Its pretty convenient though and much safer. I usually only have to press it once.. then I open some windows.
It can't be good to set off the smoke detector when you cook. It may be the utensils that you use to cook that create smoke that isn't very safe. It might be your oven that makes a lot of smoke when it turns on, so check that too. It may also be the smoke detector that goes off really easily, get that checked out too.
Relocating the smoke detector will be the best solution, it is too close to the kitchen. Try moving it out in the dining room or better yet close to the door of the bedroom. Cardinal rule do not pull the battery on any smoke detector, it all too easy to forget to put it back in!
i anticipate once you're saying ethernet port - you have in basic terms a million port popping out of your cable modem? if it rather is the case the only way i know to function pc's is to get a router. Plug the router in between the cable modem and plug the pc's into the router. they are low priced - below $50. And are elementary to establish. the different pc needs to have ethernet. destroy down and get a router and you will learn some new issues approximately networking and desktops it rather is sweet : )
There are new smoke detectors that you can get that just might help solve your problem. One of them is the First Alert Dual Sensor smoke detector. It uses a 9 volt battery for power and it has a combination ionization and photoelectric sensor that is very accurate and effective. If you get the First Alert model SA302CN, it has features including a remote-controlled alarm silence and test with Intelligent Sensing that can tell the difference between smoke from cooking in your kitchen from actual emergencies. One other thing to remember that placement of smoke detectors is crucial. It makes sense that locating a detector far enough away from the kitchen cooking area, when possible, is a good idea. However when you don't have this option, a smoke detector like the First Alert described above, is a great option to solve you problem. I hope this helps. Rick
