Question:

Outlet short circuits chargers?

I tried plugging my iPod Touch in to charge but the charging symbol didn't pop up although the iPod did chargeat least for a few more times after that. I couldn't use it while it was charging, as using it while it charged drained the battery. Then recently the iPod just stopped charging completely. I plugged in my laptop and the charger for it died. Now I can't use these chargers anywhere. Is this a problem with the wiring/outlet or the chargers themselves? Thanks.

Answer:

Sounds like the ipod charger is defective. And the laptop charger seems dead also. Check the outlet by plugging in a table lamp. I don't see how an outlet could damage a charger, as they are usually rated for any AC voltage between 100 and 250 volts. Take them to the Apple store, they can check them.
If the outlet sockets have power to them, proved by plugging something in like a lamp, then I'd say offhand that both chargers are duff. However, it could also be, that if the cables on the chargers have been mistreated, tied in knots etc, like my daughters, it maybe faulty leads.
