I just bought a Knox 11-inch extra long U-lock and can't figure out how to get the keys off of it in order to get it open. They're attached to it with a metal string-type thing and I don't have anything more than steel scissors. I can't open in that way, and the keys don't reach around to the lock part of it.It's this thing:

Contact your local fire department and ask to speak with the fire marshall. Nobody likes a whistle-blower, but in the long run, if you take action, then ultimately your workplace would be safer.
