Question:

Passing of electrical cables under control room is inhibited or not?

Electrical dep. wants to pass about 50 electrical cable from under control room to substation via cable gallery. The power spec. is as follows:- 440vac, 50hz, 60A average for each cable(for motor driving), number of cable~50above the mentioned cable gallery there is false floor which instrument cable is passing and above false floor is control room/rack room.our concern is for noise induced in instrument signal cable and people working in control room and pc/monitor.

Answer:

If they cables run a concentric neutral, the effects of the interference should be negligible. Otherwise the cables will interfere with any unshielded piece of equipment and you will see considerable interference when the motors are running. But this will only be seen when current is traveling through the cables. This effect would be greatest when the equipment is directly over the cables, or in close proximity of the cables. The interference, which is associated with the induced current from the cables will reduce greatly as you gain distance from the cables. Anyway, go with the concentric neutral, this will make your life a lot easier.
