Is there a natural safe in house product to deter behavior
Has he been neutered? If not, neuturing will likely solve the issue. Also, have you brought another cat or pet into the home? He could be stressing out. You can purchase a pheremone spray (there is a brand called Feliway) and either spray in around the home where he is spraying (at his level) or there is a diffuser that you plug into the wall. These scents are similar to their own and provide a bit of a comfort for them. However, if he has just randomally started this behavior, you should really talk with your vet about it. It could be a health concern. Do you know for sure that it is spraying and not urinating? I ask because it can be difficult to tell the difference sometimes. If he suddenly starts urinating all over, he may have a urinary infection, kidney stones, etc. My cat has had those and they can be very painful for them.
My suggestions: 1) Start with a physical at the vet to make sure it is not a health problem. 2) Consider purchasing CAT ATTRACT litter. This is a special litter to encourage litter box use. It is expensive but is good litter. It also contains a book that gives lots of tips for stopping these problems. 3) Get rid of all the scent from past urine. Some of the better products - depending on where the urine is - including Natures Miracle Advanced for Cats, an urine remover from Ceva product , and Get Serious. 4) The most respected products are Feliway products. There is a diffuser that plugs into the wall like an air freshener. There is also a spray that you can use to put on places that cat marks. I would consider these products as part of an overall plan but not just a miracle cure. 5) Try to figure out the problem behind the problem.
if its a male or male's unfixed he-there marking his or his's place you need to get him neutered ASAP after you fix him and he is still doing so put more litter box's down and start squirting him with water when you catch him in the act if that dont stop it with in 1 month ask the vet for help and put urine off every where the cat eliminates him self thats not the litter box females the same thing
My male cat has been neutered and still has this problem. I have found that store bought sprays and pheromones don't work at all. Ever since we kept him indoors (due to a neighbor letting his dog out off the lead all the time) the problem has got alot better. If I were you I wouldnt bother wasting money on tut that doesnt work.
Cat spraying is a cat behavior problem where your cat urininates in different areas of your home. Although it's more common for males to participate in this behavior, female cats also spray. Cats are very territorial, they like everyone to know what's belongs to them, and sometimes use their urine to send this message out loud and clear. This cat behavior problem tends to be exhibited more in multi cat household where it's harder to claim a territory. Cat spraying can also be caused by stress such as; moving, a new baby, where the cat feels the need to mark their territory. Neutered and spayed cats are less likely to spray, they also have commercial products like Feliway?, that can be bought at your local pet store, which helps to reduce and even eliminate feline spraying. Cleaning the area where your cat sprayed with an ammonia free product, may also discourage your cat from urinating there a second time.
