I have a 1 1/2 male thread plastic pipe to ribbed male going to the pool flex pipe. I use a screw clamp on the ribbed part, no leaks ok. The threaded male into the threaded female is leaking. I used a brand new part, wrapped with white pfte tape clockwise two wraps and screwed it in hand tight and 1 wrench turn as it says on the pump. It leaks. What's the best way to do this so I don't have a leak or damage the fittings?I know some say you can't use tape on over 1 1/4. I have pipe dope, but it says do not use on plastic.

There is also a clear material sold for dry floral arrangements that is water clear and is intended for this kind of application, but I don't know the name. Should have it at craft stores that sell all the artificial arrangement pieces.
