i own a 2001 chevy blazer. my drivers side windshield wiper is not working correctly. when i turn them on it only goes approximately half way down the windshield. this then causes it to move off the side of the glass and it wont wipe the bottom half. the other wiper works just fine. it does this at random times. i could please use some ideas on what the problem is. please and thanks
Turn off the wipers so they park at the bottom. Loosen the bolt at the bottom of the driver wiper. Set the driver wiper to the proper position at the bottom and tighten the bolt. That should do it.
The wiper linkage, called transmissions are bent, broken, loose or just worn out
The wipers are connected to the drive via wheel boxes - sounds like the drive shaft nut is loose (wipers not in correct position) and wheel boxes loose or worn out ( working intermittently) Start from the motor and tighten all nuts and bolts on linkages and wheel boxes. When done you may still have to park the wipers properly and reset positions as previous answer. If they are just plumb worn out replace everything with auto dismantlers parts. Remove wiper blades before working to avoid scratching paint and be carefull poking about under hood when wipers on - some linkages could easily trap fingers and they are always hard to see/reach The motor is surprisingly powerfull
