Question:

Plugging a flat tire???

I got a flat tire today, so I went to a shop nearby. They plugged the flat tire for me, that only cost me $15. I want to know how reliable a plugged tire be? Is it good to drive a long distance trip with it? I plan on driving about 200 miles to another state, but that‘s going be in May.

Answer:

in most cases when a tire is plugged right the tire is safe and should last the life of the tire . it will have no effects as durability goes an the trip should be safe . but when driving long distance always carry a spare tire and the tool in case you do have a flat tire .
The repair can last for many years, or miles, depending on many things. The size of the hole being repaired, condition of the tire, and what part of the tire was damaged. Side wall repair is a no-no, Most good repairs is done when removing the tire and patching hole from inside, not plugged, so it might be a better idea to have the tire taken off the rim and patched again from the inside. 200 miles does not seem like a problem at reasonable speeds.
