Honestly, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, firing you over you not socializing. I worked with a woman that told me when it came to gossip about other people in the workplace she would tell them outright that she did not have time for that, that she needed to concentrate on her job. If your company is At Will, that means the company can fire you for whatever reason no matter how trivial it may be. Keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that HR is not on your side. It is on the side of the company for any potential lawsuits from employees. Going to HR may open up a can of worms and then you actually may get fired just by doing that. I've seen it happen in the company I use to work at. If you don't like your work, and you are assured you can get another job then quit. I would make sure that you had another job though before you do quit. Better to have all the bases covered. Or maybe you may have to bite it and be more social at work and even attend some of these social events after work. Keep the information generic such as books you read, gardening, walking. Actually make it so that your life is totally boring and once people are satisfied with some tidbit of information they will leave you alone. Say you are a homebody and love being home and puttering around the house. Just bore the tears out of them about your life. Just trying to give you some suggestions on how to approach this.
