Question:

point of getting new tires?

i have 2 worn out tires in the front. should i just rotate them with the ones in the back (not worn out)? or just get new tires anyways?what are good tires that wont ware out fast for my matrixi think i need 16 in tires

Answer:

Your master cylinder is bad. It is bypassing internally. Replace it. Problem fixed.
it could be that you have a leak in the brake system. check the master cylinder to see if there is an brake fluid running down the brake power booster from below the master cylinder. check to see if there are any leaking brake lines. also pull the rear wheels to see if a rear wheel cylinder is leaking. check the rubber hoses the go from the metal brake lines to the calipers on the front wheels
tire industry standards recommend the higher traction/ tread and speed rated tires to the rear of vehicle, to maintain handling and lateral control characteristics. rotate rear tires to the front of your vehicle and get two replacement tires for the rear. local tire dealers should be very helpful. have your alignment checked while your there. it saves tires, gas and makes sure the car handles properly. if your vehicle is 4wd/awd,manufactures recommend replacement of all 4 tires as a matched set (size make model )or drive train damage may result (differentials, transfer case) and will not be covered by warranty.
Check the tread depth with a guage, passing would be 2/32, but if they are even close I would change them. if the rears pass and you are going to keep them, put the new ones on the rear and the old ones rotate to the front. I like to buy all 4 at a time and if you keep them rotated they wll wear at the same time, but buying 4 tires at once is a bit pricey
get a couple of good used tires and put them on the front and the good tires, just leave them on the back. if its a front wheel drive, you need the good tires up front for pulling power.
