Poll: Do you ever feel weird when your manager needs to come into to check your heater?

Answer:

I am very strict on who is allowed to breed to my stud dogs. I would never allow a breeding to take place if it wasn't a breeding I would theoretically want a puppy from. That's not to say I would get one, or even ask for one, but if I couldn't see myself taking pride in one, why do the breeding? All breedings should be done with the intent of improving, so if you, as the stud owner, do not see it as an improvement, then why allow the breeding? You have as much responsibility as the owner of the female. I know a breeder who has it right in her stud contact that she retains the right to refuse service to the b*tch if, upon arrival, she does not feel it is a suitable match. If the b*tch is still a quality dog, she may offer another male instead, but I have also known her to pick the girl up at the airport, and put her right back on a plane home. Photos can lie, and Photoshop is the unscrupulous breeder's best friend. ALWAYS see the dog in person or on video, or have someone you trust evaluate the dog if you can't. You are also as responsible as the female's owner to make sure the puppies all get good, well researched homes, so if you're willing to do multiple breedings, you'd better be able to help place the puppies responsibly. Your responsibility to the puppies does not end with the exchange of service. As someone above me said, there is very little chance that your male complements more than one, maybe two girls in another breeder's program. So if they want a volume discount, they are likely not too responsible. Responsible breeders are breeding to retain pick puppy for themselves, so asking for pick puppy isn't fair. If they offer it, then they are likely breeding for puppy sales rather than to improve their breeding program.
Asking for pictures/video that show coming going and sidegait as well as I presume you have done the pedigree research so you know what is behind the animal because rest assured if something not so good happens with the puppies - it's always the stud dogs fault. Please make sure they are legitimate breeder/exhibitor/handlers. I have seen many a puppy mill person show up at a show with the only one of a breed and take a BOB picture which would imply some quality. Do the research on the wins to make sure they were against Competition. re: expectation - puppy back possible and even if you had pick it might not be their pick. Typical however if you have an unproven male (no pups on the ground that are successful in conformation or performance) you would typically only get under $200.
Heres the deal- Its YOUR contract- You write it the way you want, and as long as the b-itch's owner agrees and signs it, its binding. Personally, I want pictures/videos of the b-tch, health records, show records before I consider breeding her. If they have more then one that is equal or better quality, then yes, I would consider quantity discounts- But ONLY for healthy show stock! I am not a BYB, my boy only makes the acquaintance of healthy show girls with records to better the breed. If she has been injured, I will take that into consideration and look at her pedigree and conformation so I may breed her without show points. If you don't like the b-tch, be up front with the owner, and tell them she just isn't what you are looking for as a cross for your male.
hmmm, but when u buy a gun.. eventually dont buy that woodsball garbage its heavy slow not air efficant, if u get something typically used in air ball.. g3's vibes eteks w/e ull have an advantage cuz its lighter faster u get more shots off a tank and could potentially be a monster on the field
1) I think it would be reasonable for pictures but you could maybe ask if they could send you a video. Some people don't have that type of equipment though. 2) It is very reasonable. I know a breeder who has in her stud contract that for payment of the stud service, she either gets the amount of money she charges for stud service (not sure how much she charges) or she gets pick of the litter. And in the contract it says after that in parenthesis that she picks which one (money or puppy). I think putting this in your contract is a great thing - and it's not like you are going to want pick puppy for every single litter your dog studs right? 3) I would not offer any discounts. If they want to use your dog for a stud, they should be able to pay for it. But that is my opinion - if you feel that you wouldn't mind giving them a discount that is totally up to you. ADD: Don't listen to Tryin' Again. I don't know what their problem is but every answer I see of his is very rude and none of them have ever been helpful. I just learned to ignore him.
