Question:

pres-elect or press-select?

A couple of extra ses really tell the story of how Obama got elected. The press chose him to be the winner and hyped him up and down while denigrating his opponents. But at least Chris Matthews got that tingle up his leg.

Answer:

Well I am a Dem and I voted for Obama but I do understand that the press is not neutral and clearly reported things slanted toward Obama. That the press is not worth much is a major problem in the US as we no longer have a good source of truth (its been that way for a long time, not just now) and that means that Obama will probably get a pass. I think the first time we have seen that is in the Blago scandal. Obama announced absolutely no contact with Blago, then after some more information was leaked from the investigation, he admitted that some staff members may have, and then the admission came that Obama's Chief of Staff had contacted Blago to talk about a successor and even named a person that Obama wanted in there. Thats quite a slide from no contact at all. Clearly, the press is not going to take on anything serious, at least until something goes seriously wrong and people are dying or we have been attacked. What if Bush had done that with Blago? Can we imagine how that would have been covered. It really does us no good to have the press so blatant in failing to report the truth. We need to evaluate how Obama is doing and to stop rumors that may not be true. For sure, he is dirty in the Blago thing and thats a shame and like Nixon he could have just admitted it up front and it would not seem so bad. But he denied and used the word absolutely. I am concerned about that and that it is not being investigated by the press...and we know that whoever is in the White Office controls the FBI so I doubt the federal investigation.
You are like the Hilary bitches complaining that their woman did not get elected. Both Hilary and McCain lost because they were out campaigned by a better candidate and because the issues were against the Republicans during the campaign. Mainly the bad results of compared to 8 years ago. The average American is not a dummy. And all the ranting and raving by Republicans will not do anything but keep you on the loosing track. You will have to be honest about your shortcomings. Until you do you will still loose elections.
What you say is for the most part true and original. He is both the president-elect and largely the press-select. However, you should consider other factors that may point in the opposite direction: 1. Barack Obama was not preordained in any way to be the media's favorite. His popularity and press attraction did not start rolling sky high until after his poll numbers started to challenge those of Hillary Clinton. 2. The entire alternative-media, including Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, other radio talk show-hosts, and a good portion of Fox News, while not exactly supporting McCain, was mostly critical and unenthusiastic about Obama. 3. Obama did have to endure some critique, even from the mainstream media, at certain times. For example, after the comments of his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, and after Obama's connections to Bill Ayers came into the limelight, in the Obama-Clinton debate before the Pennsylvania Primary, ABC News asked him some tough questions related to those revelations. However, if you mean in general-terms, the media was definitely behind Obama the whole time.
The Democrat party, the media, and George Soros form something like an unholy trinity of corruption. Soros, who once collaborated with the Nazis, funds and controls the Democrat party. The liberal mass media does the Democrats' dirty work by smearing Republicans during every election, and glorifying Democrats. Obama says he doesn't do negative campaigning, but in reality he doesn't have to because the media does it for him.
If the press selected Obama, they did the same thing for Bush. The press gave Bush a free hand for years without criticizing him at all. Hypocrite.
