Press Release Question in Respect to Businesses?

What types of information related to a particular business justify submitting a press release? For example, would the following justify sending out a press release:* A blog that's supplementary to your main site that is there solely for informational purposes* Adding new landing pages to your site* The launch of a company newsletterThe company I work for has either already begun or is about to begin all of the above. Can we send out a press release for all? For any? Thank you so much! Any guidance is appreciated!

Answer:

Only trade publications would consider publishing any of those stories. None of them, however, have any news value making them worthy of being mentioned in the media. You need to create a spin for each story to make it attractive to any publisher. If it's an in-house newsletter, all those stories are okay.
I think all of your suggestion are worthy of a news release - possibly as a combined story. At the very least it will maintain your profile in the eyes of the media you send it to. Just remember the Who, What, Why, When, Where and Why when you are writing your release, and either include images or invite media to attend a photocall. For your local newspaper these things are probably very much of interest, but the higher up the media ladder you go the less chance you have of getting coverage. But good luck and let me know if you need any more assistance.
Generally, a press release is done to generate interest in your company by announcing something that would be of value to your customers, investors, or the general public. Some examples of things you will see announced include: 1. Meeting or exceeding earnings targets 2. Executive level promotions and hirings 3. Forming of strategic partnerships with other companies 4. Announcement of a new product line 5. Announcement of new service offerings 6. Announcement of new facilities Given that, I would say that the blog might be worth a press release if it is useful for your customers or provides a new source of support or information. The website changes may also be worthwhile depending on the scope of them; how big is the change and how it impacts your customers or investors. Hope this helps..
