Question:

pressed roses????

i received a rose yesterday and im persistent to make it last for years with out it falling apart!!! when i was a kid i used to press cosmos which turned out wonderful... now i have a half opened rose which i want to press.. any helpful deas?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? i want all the petals showing, how can i make it still look so lovely as it does now???????

Answer:

It is nearly impossible to keep a rose looking fresh forever. To press it, you will have to take apart the rose because of the fleshy bits underneath. It will not look the same as fresh, not only in shape but also color. Check out the sources. Some other ideas are drying the rose by hanging it upside down or placing it in a box with silica gel, but then it will still not look fresh. Freeze-drying the rose can be done professionally and seems to produce the best results.
it will be pressed, but cant be lovely as it does now. as all the petals will come closer when u press.
