Question:

Preventing Rust on Hot Water Heater pipes?

I just replaced my hot water heater, basically because it leaked from the top where the copper pipe fitted onto the connection coming out of the tank (steel i think). We bought a flipped house and a lot of stuff wasn't done right. My current plumber replaced all appropriate pipes/fittings and put a whole new gas water heater in for us. My question is how to I prevent the rust on that connection? This plumber put what looks like a collar around the fitting but a little steel is still exposedwill rubbing vaseline on these threads help prevent rust? Sorry for the lack of the plumbing vocab.

Answer:

If all is true as you say then you need to rat them out you should not have to take this kind of abuse. Seek help and if you have to live somewhere else it has got to be better then being abused all of the time. This may be upsetting but your boyfriend is not the answer go to a teacher or the police but get help or this will not stop ever.
I would bomb it first to make sure everything is dead first. I would put on a raincoat and hose it down.
Wear tight clothing, safety goggles, thick pants, a thick coat, and make sure to tuck your pants INTO your shoes. Then: *Spray bug killer, and kill EVERYTHING….. Wait to do the rest tomorrow *Tomorrow, sweep up the bugs, knock down the bees nests *Sweep again, just to be sure That should do the trick!
