Answer:

heavy metal is the music genre from the '70s and '80s Megadeth, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Kiss, Judas Priest, even Led Zeppelin had Metal influences. in the late '80s, Metal started to expand, the most famous genres were Alternative Metal and Progressive Metal. In the early '90s Alternative Metal became huge, bands like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden were associated with that genre. All the new metal genres (groove, speed, power, NU, black) were invented in the late '90s and early 2000s.
Metal is the main all-encompassing genre. Heavy Metal is a sub-genre of Metal and I suppose you can call it the first sub-genre of Metal. I'm not good at describing music but basically to me Heavy Metal is vanilla Metal - it lacks the characteristics of all those other genres, doesn't have especially unique vocals. It's the most mainstream Metal sub-genre. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Anvil, Grand Magus, Metallica (late), etc. are Heavy Metal.
Heavy metal is what is more commonly known as traditional metal. It's basically the closest metal thing you can get to rock but with still being metal. Usually bands like Black Sabbath (the inventors), Ozzy, Pentagram, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, ect. I wouldn't concider metalcore nor deathcore actual metal but I supose that's my opinion they're just so shitty it's horrible. Baha. Note: These people who say black, power, thrash, and speed were invented in the late 90's are severely misinformed retards. Thrash dates as far back as the late 70's, black metal in the early 80's, death metal in the mid 80's, power and speed in the mid 80's and so on and so forth.
I know what you mean. But its not true. Here are some other traditional heavy metal bands. Iron Maiden Accept Angel Witch Manowar Saxon Dio Ozzy Osbourne Motorhead Cirith Ungol Diamond Head Danzig Grim Reaper King Diamond Armored Saint
Heavy Metal is a style of rock music dating back to the late 1960. It came about musically because of the publics reaction to folk rock .Folk Rock had just a soft volume of acoustic Instruments and at the the time it also had no meaningful lyrics.Heavy Metal started to reach its peak in the early seventies. When we had groups like Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were popular. The musical style of these groups relied on extremely loud volume coming from banks of speakers. This in turn was an essential part of the their sound was feed back in which by playing directly into a speaker. H/M music also relies on loud and heavy accented drumming and repetition on all instruments.A typical vocal effect of Heavy Metal is shouting or screaming, this is to get the voice heard above the instruments. Some other names of H/M groups are Anthrax,Escape,Iron Maiden,Metallica , Twisted Sister , and Vow Vow. These are just a few of many more .
