If you totally have no connections to the music/acting industry, start making blogs, myspace page and video's on Youtube. A lot of people have gotten discovered this way. Or you can audition for broadway shows in Manhattan, New York or Las Vegas. Those are all good starters. I have a friend that does Broadway and Vegas shows. It opens door to bigger things.
