I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra XE. It weighs roughly 3500 poundsand has Uniroyal Laredo 265-70R15 tires. On the door panel of the truck it gives one specific PSI, and then on the tire itself it gives another specific PSIWhich one should I go by? The tires say 44 PSI and the door jam says 26 PSI ???
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/avqO5 A good rule of thumb is to go 5 to 10 psi below the Max PSI. That would put you back to around 35 psi. You should be ok at 40 psi, but watch how the tires wear. If you notice them wearing more in the middle of the tread, reduce the pressure.
usually you want to go with what the tire says. since all tires are different, they all have a unique psi that is recommended for that specific tire. if the tire says 44, do like 38-42 psi. 26 psi is way to low, you will get terrible gas mileage and possibly blow out a tire
