Question:

Purchasing tires from Costco? How many?

I am in need of 2 front tires. My car is 3 yrs old, with 19,000 miles on it. The front 2 tires are always low, and I am looking to replace them. What is a way I can check (myself) to see if I need all 4 new tires or just the 2, and is Costco a good place to get them at. I have never had these tires rotated (my bad), and I am just looking for some answers. Thanks in advance

Answer:

I used to own a dodge grand caravan. I think All Dodge cars have problem with transmission problem. I wasted like 5000 dollars to fix it and still not fixed (well at the end it seemed fixed, but dare not to keep using it, the transmission problem may come back soon) I decided to sell it and never own a dodge again!!
I have a 98 Dodge Dorango. When we read the Consumer Report on it, they talked about the problems and pomplants on them. One was the Ball Barrings that had a tendency to break easily and another was the transmissions. I guess that are really bad. Many people have complained about them, but Dodge doesn't think that they are that bad and they have a tendency to slip. Read this link below, it is helpful.
You shouldn't need to replace the tires at 19,000. You should get them rotated first. That way you can even the wear on them and then when you need tire you can buy 4 at a time.
You should not need new tires at 19,000 miles. If they are always low, you probably picked up a nail or something in both tires, causing a slow leak. You can get that permanantly repaired a any good tire shop, and it will be relatively cheap. Try Bell Tire if you have one. They can do it for about $15 per tire. And while you are at it, tell them to also rotate the tires for you. Rear tires last much longer, because they don't have to turn like the front tires.
Buy a tire tread depth gage and check the tread on the tires. if the tires have less then 4/32 of tread left the I would replace them. There is a wear indicator built into your tires that will show a soiid band across you tire tread when the tire has less then 3/32 of tread left which is considered bald. I would get the tires rotated and the tread depth checked so you know where you stand. Maybe the front tires have a slow leak and can be repaired. If the tires have below 5/32 of tread left I would go ahead and replace them. Factory installed tires on most new cars will only last 35,000 miles so since you never rotated the tires you probably need at least 2 new tires on the front and you may be able to get another 10,000 miles from the rear tires. The tires at Costco are reasonably priced but are not the same quality that you get from a regular tire dealer.
