The battery likely has a heavy build-up hardened sulfate on the battery plates if it will not hold a charge and you will need to replace it or pulse charge treat it with a pulse charger to remove the sulfation. But if it is not fully charged due to low electrolyte level in the cells then just add distilled water and charge it or add 2-parts distilled water and 1-part sulfuric acid.
False! Window fans do NOT attract lightning. However if you happen to be close to the fan, (within a couple of feet), if lightning were to hit your house or the power line outside, then there is a slight chance that you could get a shock. There are things that should be not only turned off, but unplugged from the wall during a thunder storm: Any electronics appliances, such as TV's, microwaves and computers. The reason is that if lightning hits the power lines near your house, it could create a voltage spike that can destroy the sensitive solid state devices in the appliances. If lightning can jump hundreds or thousands of feet through the sky, when you turn a switch off, it only has about a quareter inch gap which lightning would easily jump across.
Not at all, you're doing what you have to, and if you like it, then it looks good! don't worry about everyone else, nothing is cooler than looking unique
