Quartz stone as one engineered stone is composed of approximately 93% quartz, together with pigments, polyester resins and other adhesives. It has the look and feel of natural stones such as granite or marble.
Geologists don't use the term stone - we use rocks and minerals. Quartz is a mineral, SiO2. It is formed by cooling of a silica-rich ifneous melt (as in granite) or more rarely precipitation of SiO2 from hydrothermal fluids (as in quartz veins).
