Question about buying new tires?

So I‘m going to buy all new tires for my car (‘97 Acura RL), also I live in New England. I was wondering what the difference between regular tires and snow tires is. We will most likely get a lot of snow this year. Should I buy 4 snow tires? Are they okay to drive when theres no snow or do they wear out faster or something? Should I just get regular tires? Thanks in advance

Answer:

if you get deep snow up there then you might want to get a set of mud and snow tires for the winter. if your tires are still good bring them back home and store them in your basement for the winter.
Just get a good all season tire and you'll do fine. Continental DWS are great all season tires. They're great in rain or snow.
Snow tires are meant for traveling in snow only. They are not meant for dry conditions. Most people will buy an extra set of tires for snow and run regular all season radials when it isn't the dead of winter. You cannot run on snow tires all year long. You can only run them in the 3 or 4 months when you are most likely to encounter snow.
