Two of the tires on my car have good thread on them. It's a front wheel drive. Is it best to have the good tires on the front of the car?
just look at the side of the side of the tire and the size will be on it.,,,,,
i've always put them on the front so you have steering and braking if you are losing traction. i read a couple of pbleek's links- interesting but the only benefit seems to be in the wet, so i guess it depends how much it rains where you are. most cars have traction control now anyway.
Yes, for a front wheel drive car. These are your traction wheels. If you purchase new tires have the front ones rotated to the back and the new ones installed on the front. If you replace all 4 remember to keep them rotated. Most of the time when you purchase tires and have them mounted at a tire shop they will offer a free rotation plan.
I dont know why some people refuse to educate themselves and read some CURRENT articles on this subject. No reputable shop will mount the better tires on the front, its a safety issue. Take a look at the Michelin tire video, Tire rack technical article. And before you give me a thumbs down on this, PLEASE post at least one reputable link supporting your position. The better tires go in the rear of ANY vehicle ALWAYS!!!! Quote from Michelin: If you're replacing only two tires, be sure to have them installed on your vehicle's rear axle. New tires will provide better grip than your half-worn tires and when they are installed on the rear that helps reduce the potential for your vehicle to fishtail or hydroplane in wet conditions.
