Answer:

Pre-flight of a fire extinguisher is to ensure it is in it's assigned location, and that the pressure gauge is in the green zone (in other words, fully charged and ready for use.
Touching it with your hands will increase the chance with infection. And your nephew grabbing it or hitting it can cause an infection or cause rejection. Taking it out so soon to switch it can cause problems and will hurt. Go to the shop and ask if they can, but I wouldn't switch it or recommend getting it switched.
