Question:

reading books before bed?

does reading books before bed help you sleep better? and would you have the dreams of the books?

Answer:

i usually read before i go to bed if i have the time. i dont really dream abou it nor does it make me sleep better however sometimes it does clear my head of everything that happened during the day and makes me more relaxed. but its annoying because i think its bad for my eyes to read a night.
I wouldn't say that it helps me sleep better, it is just something that I have to do... Can't resist finding out a little more about what happens. Sometimes I have dreams of the books, but not very often.
Reading books will relax your brain. Listening to classical or soft contemporary will do the same to you. Like a lullabye. It takes the stress of the day and lets it go, because you expend whats left of your energy to concentrate on reading. It will leave you tired, but only tired for the sleep your brain is just screaming for. No horror stories. You can, if you think about it enough. I've had many dreams about Harry Potter and nightmares about Twilight and the formidable sparklers. ooooooo! It allows your brain to stop the hyper-active function. Interesting tip; if a person looks at a bright screen, be it a computer or a cell phone or a TV, their brains will not slow functions for an hour and a half.
I like to read in bed. It doesn't help me sleep better nor do I have dreams about what I just read. Usually reading in bed makes me stay up alot later than I intended. I rationalize my refusal to turn the light off by telling myself that since I'm physically resting by lying in bed that's almost like sleeping.
yes i read at night whilst im lying in bed. and it does the opposite, i stay up really late because i find myself getting lost in the book and by the time i look at the clock its 1:30am and i am going to have to be up in a bit over five hours for school. -I dont dream about my books usually, which is good because most of the books i read are vampire or horror (love stephen king). but i can seperate the book and real life, so i dont think about it while im sleeping. Except when i read City Of Bones (mortal instuments) and i dreamt of Jace, but thats the only time really. anyway, :D
