I have a 96 Cougar xr7 and there is a knocking sound coming from the rear of the car when i go over bumps. It sounds like someone hitting the under carriage of the car with a hammer. The sound is similar to when I put the bushings on the shocks of my 86 crown vic on wrong, however the cougar has a more complicated suspension system.Anyone have any idea what the problem may be, how it can be fixed, and how much it will cost?
How about the exhaust system? Perhaps a defective hanger.
