Question:

Recommend any cold air intakes? ?

I have a 07 cvic si and I‘m looking for a cold air intake. I wanna get a good one but I‘m not too familiar with brands. Any suggestions??

Answer:

The cold air intake that came stock on your car is better than any you can get for under $1000, and those expensive ones are only useful if you make major changes to your engine. When you get above 300 hp, check out high quality aftermarket intakes. Aftermarket cold air intakes are relics of the 1960s and 1970s, when most cars drew hot air from above the engine. Today aftermarket cold air intakes just waste your gas.
YES DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ! Before putting any plastic crap air filter on your car, look at the air cleaner housing under the hood where it goes over to the inner fender well. That is a real cold air intake. Next go down to your trusted mechanic and tell him you want to buy a cold air filter to get that 50 horsepower that is being wasted by your tiny engine. After the mechanic gets done laughing he will tell you to save your money. (and offer to put a turbo on, this would give you the zip you are looking for.) we get many complaints on yahoo answers about problems with aftermarket filters. No one ever wrote back and praised it for the .07 horsepower it gained.
Wanna know a secret? Buy a generic intake. Name brands intakes charge you an arm and a leg just for the pretty colors. I actually sold my kn intake bcuz the generic one I bought is bigger. And makes vtec switchover so much louder
