Question:

Sales of Old stock - Tyres?

Do vehicle tyres have a sell-by date, and how would a customer know whether the tyres being fitted to their vehicle have not been degrading over years in the depot?

Answer:

the tires do have a date on them it kind of like this 2224 means 22 weeks of 2004.i saw it on the internet where some tire business will sell these old unused tires as brand new ones and the older they are the most likely your gonna have some problems, like tire blow outs from tire just pretty much fall apart.it was said the some of the major stores like sears was one.hate to mention them but it was said and interviewed, but there s others.you have to know where your looking for the numbers.it s in a oval rectangular with some numbers,i believe it s the last numbers that will tell you the year it was made.as for sell by date they do have so many years but not more than 2 yrs but i could be wrong.best thing you can do call a tire manufacture and ask them about it and how to look at brand new tires on the made date.it s your money and your life.
Vehicle tires have raised numbers that indicate when they were manufactured. Tires last 6-10 years after the date of manufacture, if they do not wear out or get punctured.
