I was wondering, for the sake of simplicity, I have a touring motorcycle and on longer trips i‘ll bring my sidecar, which I personally constructed to have two wheels, so that i could put one front, and one rear on it, in case of a flat, i could swap them out and continue on my merry way. what I was wondering, is are there any sets of tires that have the exact same front and rear tires? I heard from a friend of mine that you could run rear tires in reverse on the front, but i‘m not so sure. any help is appreciated, thanks!
Only if you have the same wheels front and rear –?which is unlikely, motorcycle tyres are generally wider at the rear and a different radius, if you tried to fit a rear to a front wheel you would not get the beads to seat. If you have a sidecar you could mount spare tyres (and wheels if you wanted) onto the bodywork.
This would be rare on modern bikes, but not at all uncommon on older bikes. British bikes, /2 BMWs and MZ 2-strokes are bikes I have owned that often ran the same tire front and rear. I would suspect the current Ural sidecar rigs run three identical wheels and tires.
